Research Technician Campus Northwest - Gary Department Biology (Nw-Bi-Iunwa) Job Description
Using Drosophila Melanogaster (fruit fly) as the model system, Dr. Gao’s lab focuses the role of me31B gene in Drosophila germ cell development. Our lab uses molecular biology and genetics tools to analyze how Me31B protein, an RNA post-transcriptional regulator, contribute to germ cell development during Drosophila oogenesis and early embryogenesis. Applicants familiar with Drosophila model system and techniques like immunostaining, immunoprecipitation, western blot, cell culturing and RT-PCR are encouraged to apply.
Applicants with experience in CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing techniques are highly desired.
Responsibilities: 1) Conduct laboratory research and support the PI’s grant proposal and manuscript by providing research data. 2) Manage the laboratory including training and supervising undergraduate student researchers

Research Technician Campus Northwest - Gary Department Biology (Nw-Bi-Iunwa) Job Requirements
Minimum Education: A minimum a bachelor degree in a Biology-related field (e.g., biochemistry, biology, microbiology) is required. A Masters or higher degree in a biology field is strongly preferred.
Minimum Experience: 2 years of experience conducting laboratory research.
A combination of related education and experience may be considered. The ability to conduct molecular/genetics experiments (e.g. gel electrophoresis, immunoprecipitation) is important.
