Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a driven and innovative Postdoctoral Scientist in Bispecific Antibodies 

Scientist in Bispecific Antibodies to join our Biotherapeutics Discovery

department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility.

As a Postdoctoral Scientist, you will be a primary 

driver of basic technology innovation the area of antibody engineering, bispecifics 

and protein therapeutic modalities. In particular, we are recruiting for a 

creative scientist to unravel and define the basic mechanisms of a class of 

bispecific antibodies called T-cell Engagers. The ideal candidate for this 

position will be an independent and driven protein biochemist / engineer who 

can apply an integrated structure / function / cell-biology approach to define 

basic understandings of T-cell activation via T-cell Engagers.  There will be opportunity to publish and 

apply new technology findings throughout the Discovery Research network both in 

Ridgefield and in collaboration with European colleagues. Will be expected to

initiate and publish research findings to internal and external scientific

Duties & Responsibilities\:

  • Provide technical input to create, organize, and implement research plans directed at the understanding and design of bispecific T-cell engagers. The individual will have had a significant track record of high level impact publications in a technically related area.

  • Identify and implement strategies to generate and optimize bispecific antibody discovery processes.

  • Work with multi-disciplinary groups, including expression, purification, and characterization.  

  • Expertise in routine molecular biology tasks such as PCR-based cloning, construct design, site-directed mutagenesis, expression vector engineering etc., and in DNA sequence analysis software.

  • Establish an international reputation in area of expertise with publication and conference participation; represent BIPI as a scientific leader in field of expertise at both internal and national/international conferences, meetings and organizations.

  • Comply all applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; maintain proper records in accordance with SOP’s and policies.

  • Demonstrates technical expertise  as well as the ability to train colleague

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities\:

  • Demonstrated creativity and initiative in driving cutting edge research

  • Demonstrated knowledge of all techniques in the realm of Antibody/Protein Engineering, hands-on experience with state-of-the-art tools like high-throughput construct design, purification and characterization

  • Hands-on experience in handling automation/HTP antibody discovery and optimization


  • PhD degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or related discipline plus

  • Hands-on in Molecular Biology techniques such as PCR-based cloning, construct design and sequence analysis        

  • Requires strategic research planning ability and excellent written and oral presentation skills

Eligibility Requirements\:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
