Production Manager - Scientific Job Description

Production Manager - Scientific - Denver, Colorado ($75,000-$85,000)
Responsible for activities associated with the operations of the Research and Development and Quality Control Departments. The Production Manager will perform research and development, interpretation, and analytical work to determine the composition, molecular structure, and properties of substances to formulate or reformulate cosmetic and household chemicals.  In addition, they will file appropriate compliance reports and surveys with all state and federal regulatory agencies.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Experiment with natural and synthetic materials or byproducts to develop new creams, lotions, OTC drugs (sunscreens, acne fade creams, bath products, aerosol air fresheners, hard surface cleaners, and wood preservative, and related products. Source/research raw materials for new concepts. Reformulate existing products for improvement and/or cost reduction.

  • Study effects of various methods of processing, preservations and packaging on composition and properties of products such as color, texture, odor, viscosity, shelf life, and chemical stability content.

  • Interface with management, marketing and consumer relations to facilitate and refine the concept development process.

  • Prioritize laboratory schedules to meet the needs of manufacturing and production.

  • Prepare and oversee production from bench through full scale manufacturing, to include preparing batch control records for production.

  • Prepare and oversee product production from bench through full scale manufacturing, to include preparing batch control records for production. Investigate and resolve technical problems while doing so.

Job Qualifications:

  • Able to read, analyze, interpret and understand scientific principles

  • Experience with aerosol testing

  • 6 Plus years of lab experience

  • Supervisory experience

  • Experience with QC/QA

  • Experience in a manufacturing setting

  • R & D Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field
