Job Description:

We are seeking an entry-level R&D Associate to support research and development efforts to improve the quality, efficiency, profitability, and services of NMS Labs.  The R&D Associate will assist in the analysis and development, and validation of new analytical methods and improve current analytical methods.  The successful candidate must have excellent analytical skills, the ability to troubleshoot and develop high throughput immune and cell-based assays, and a strong scientific background in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.  Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Performs sample preparation procedures for isolation of analytes from different biological fluids in support of analytical development efforts
  • Proficient with 2 or more of the following techniques: immunoassays, cell culture, HPLC, GC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS
  • Assists with method development of bioanalytical assays for the identification and quantitation of biologically active compounds (e.g., drugs and hormones) and their transformation products in biological fluids & tissues employing immunoassay and cell culture techniques
  • Performs method validations
  • Documents and adheres to laboratory QA and QC methods
  • Prepares detailed and accurate laboratory records
  • Processes and reports raw data generated from various platforms, and prepares data summaries and reports using a variety of software tools
  • Performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instruments
  • Performs literature searches to support method development and assists with method reports

Requirements:

Must meet at least one of the following circumstances:

  • Bachelor’s degree in immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field, and 2+ years lab related experience, OR
  • Master’s degree in immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field
  • Technical background in immunoassays, specifically ELISA, cell-based assays, molecular biology or related field
  • Understanding of the principles of research design pertaining to development of laboratory developed tests, medical devices or drug development
  • Ability to ready, analyze and interpret complex technical data, procedures and instructions in verbal, written, mathematical or diagrammatical form
  • Ability to define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Must work both independently and in a team environment

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to hear
  • Vision (with correction) including color, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Standing, reaching with hands and arms, and using hands and fingers to manipulate instrument or equipment controls, computer keyboard, office equipment, objects or tools
  • Movement from one work location to another
  • Sitting and standing, sometimes for extended periods of time
  • Lifting objects up to 20 lbs. 
  • Exposure to intermittent or constant sounds generated by equipment
  • Exposure to fumes, noxious odors and dust
  • Handling of biological material and blood-borne pathogens
  • Handling of toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Proximity to moving parts
